Bhuvneshwar Kumar's return to India's T20I squad for the series against New Zealand brought renewed attention to how his career numbers in the shortest format measure up against those of Jasprit Bumrah. Both seamers have been central to India's pace attack at different points, each bringing a distinct set of skills to the side.
Bumrah is widely recognised for his pace, accuracy and ability to execute yorkers during the death overs, while Bhuvneshwar has built his game around swing with the new ball, movement and a range of slower-ball variations. Bhuvneshwar's return to the T20I setup followed two productive IPL campaigns with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which gave the national selectors reason to recall him.
Here is a detailed comparison between Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar:
Jasprit Bumrah's T20I stats
Jasprit Bumrah has appeared in 100 T20Is for India, picking up 126 wickets across 97 bowling innings. He has delivered 2,110 balls in the format and conceded 2,295 runs in total. His best bowling figures in a T20I innings stand at 4/15, and he has recorded one four-wicket haul across his appearances. Bumrah's bowling average in T20Is is 18.21, his economy rate is 6.52, and his strike rate is 16.7. Those numbers reflect his consistency and his capacity to contain and take wickets across all phases of a T20I.
