India are set to face New Zealand in a five-match ODI series on New Zealand soil, with the first match scheduled for November 4, 2026, in Auckland. The remaining fixtures will be held in Wellington on November 7, Hamilton on November 10, and Mount Maunganui on November 13 and 15.
Rohit Sharma is expected to bat at the top of the order throughout the series. His record across 14 ODIs played in New Zealand provides a detailed picture of what he has produced on those grounds over the years.
Rohit has played 14 ODIs in New Zealand, scoring 437 runs across 13 innings at an average of 36.41 and a strike rate of 72.95. He has recorded four half-centuries on New Zealand soil, reflecting a consistent if measured output in those conditions.
His overall ODI record against New Zealand across all venues tells a different story: 1,134 runs from 32 innings at an average of 36.6 and a strike rate of 85.3, including two centuries and six fifties. The two centuries came in 2017, when he scored 147, and in 2023, when he made 101. The contrast in strike rate between his New Zealand-soil figures and his all-venue record against the same opposition points to conditions there being more demanding for him.
Rohit's highest score in ODIs played in New Zealand is 87, made at Mount Maunganui on January 26, 2019, during the second ODI of the 2018-19 series. He was named Player of the Match as India won that game by 90 runs, with Virat Kohli captaining the side. India went on to win that series 4-1.
In 2026, Rohit has been in strong overall form, scoring 604 runs in 12 innings at an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 104.67, with two fifties and two centuries. However, his three ODI innings against New Zealand in January 2026, played in Vadodara, Rajkot and Indore, produced only 61 runs at an average of 20.3, with a highest score of 26. Those returns will add context to how he approaches the upcoming series.
