Hagley Oval, Christchurch: Pitch Report
The Hagley Oval surface produced a high-scoring contest in the first T20I, with New Zealand scoring 225/4 before India chased down the target with two balls to spare. The conditions suggest that batters who settle in early could make a significant impact in the second match as well.
The first game also showed that a big total may not necessarily be enough to defend at this venue. Bowlers will need to vary their pace, execute their plans at the death, and avoid giving the opposition too many scoring opportunities.

NZ vs IND: Probable Best Performers of the Match
Probable Best Batter: Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson was India's standout batter in the first T20I against New Zealand, scoring 67 runs off just 33 deliveries at a strike rate of 203.03. His innings included eight fours and four sixes, helping India race to 94 runs in the powerplay alongside Abhishek Sharma. Samson's aggressive approach gave India the perfect platform to chase down the target of 226.
Probable Best Bowler: Mitchell Santner
New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner picked up two wickets for 39 runs in his four overs in the series opener. He dismissed both Samson and Ishan Kishan, briefly helping the hosts regain control of the chase after India's flying start. Despite the expensive overall figures in a high-scoring match, Santner's ability to break partnerships makes him a key bowler to watch in the second T20I.
