West Indies 245 (Chanderpaul 56, Campbell 54, Greaves 46, Nayeem 4-33) trail Bangladesh 272 by 27 runs
Bangladesh shut West Indies down in the first innings by restricting them to 245 as Nayeem Hasan went through the lower order in the post-lunch session. The hosts took a slim lead of 27 runs after being bowled out for 272 on the second day.
West Indies lost their last four wickets for 32 runs after lunch. The second session began in a flurry when Joshua Bishop and Roston Chase struck five boundaries in just more than three overs. That period included Mominul Haque dropping Bishop at short leg, and landing heavily face-first on the ground. Mominul underwent a concussion check for which he was taken off the field.
Two balls later, Mehidy Hasan Miraz got one to slip under Bishop's bat, and Litton Das completed the stumping. Nayeem then removed Shamar Joseph caught behind for 4, and added Jomel Warrican's wicket, lbw for a duck after the batter went back to a slightly short ball. Nayeem also had Jayden Seales caught at mid-off for a duck as West Indies' lower order folded in a hurry, leaving Chase unbeaten on 43.
West Indies had started the day positively as Tagenarine Chanderpaul struck Taijul for a six over midwicket in what was the first boundary of the third day. In the left-arm spinner's next over, Chanderpaul reached his third Test fifty, but it wasn't long lasting. Shoriful Islam removed him shortly afterwards, caught at second slip, where Najmul Hossain Shanto took a sharp chance.
It ended Chanderpaul's long vigil, as he made 56 off 184 balls with six fours and a six.
That brought Chase to the crease. He started well with a first-ball boundary off Shoriful, followed by a cover drive off Taijul. Justin Greaves, meanwhile, hit two fours off Taijul before Mominul dropped Chase on 27 at short leg. In the last over before lunch, Nayeem had had Greaves lbw for 46, with the offbreak turning in to hit the batter's back foot.
