Haris Rauf has been fined 20 percent of his match fee after a run-in with Will Jacks and umpire Sharfuddoula during Pakistan's dramatic, one-wicket win over England in Lahore on Sunday.
Rauf was banned for two matches after two separate breaches of the ICC's code of conduct at last year's Asia Cup, and has now been handed a fifth demerit point in the past 14 months. If he accumulates three further demerit points by September 13 next year - that is, within 24 months of his first offence - he will receive a four-match ban.
The incident happened at the end of the 46th over, when Rauf - standing at the non-striker's end - was visibly frustrated that Sharfuddoula did not deem Sam Curran's short ball to Shadab Khan to be a wide. Rauf angrily waved his bat towards Jacks at mid-on, and continued to march towards him even as Sharfuddoula attempted to restrain him.
Rauf continued to argue with Jacks but was eventually calmed down by Joe Root. Pakistan went on to win by one wicket, with a fired-up Rauf hitting the winning boundary off England debutant Henry Crocombe to seal an improbable comeback victory with 17 balls to spare. Rauf and Jacks were later seen having another conversation after the match while the two teams were shaking hands.
The ICC said on Wednesday that Rauf had breached Article 2.20 of the ICC's code of conduct, which relates to "displaying conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game". He admitted the charge levelled by the match officials and accepted the proposed sanctions of a 20 percent fine and one demerit point.
England's players were also fined 15 percent of their match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate, after they were ruled to be three overs behind schedule. Harry Brook, their captain, accepted the charge and the sanction.
