Bhuvneshwar Kumar tops list of most overs bowled by pacers without a no-ball in T20Is

Bhuvneshwar Kumar held the record for the most overs bowled by a pacer without a no-ball in T20I cricket, having gone 299.3 overs without conceding one across 89 matches. That remarkable run came to an end on October 22, 2026, when he bowled his first-ever no-ball in T20I cricket during the opening match of India's series against New Zealand.

The no-ball ended one of the most disciplined bowling records in the shortest format of international cricket, a run that had stretched across nearly a decade of T20I appearances for the Indian seamer. Bhuvneshwar returned figures of 0/49 in his four overs in that match, a difficult outing as New Zealand posted 225/4 in their 20 overs.

Glenn Phillips was the standout batter for the hosts, finishing unbeaten on 82 off 40 balls with eight fours and three sixes. Phillips also shared a 73-run partnership with Bevon Jacobs during the innings, giving New Zealand significant momentum in the latter stages of their total.

Where does Bhuvneshwar Kumar rank among all bowlers for no-ball-free overs in T20Is?

Among all bowlers in T20I cricket, the all-time record for most overs bowled without a no-ball belongs to Adil Rashid of England, who has delivered 320.2 overs without conceding one. Bhuvneshwar, with his tally of 299.3 overs, was the leading pacer on that list before his record ended on October 22, 2026.

Pakistan's Shadab Khan sits just behind Bhuvneshwar on 299.1 overs without a no-ball in T20Is, making the Indian seamer's record even more notable given how narrow the gap between the two figures is. Among pacers specifically, Bhuvneshwar's 299.3 overs stood well clear of the next names on the list.

David Wiese of Namibia is second among pacers with 180.4 overs bowled without a no-ball in T20Is, while Charles Perchard of Jersey is third with 168.5 overs. The substantial gap between Bhuvneshwar's tally and those of Wiese and Perchard underlines just how consistent the Indian seamer had been throughout his T20I career.

How did New Zealand reach 225/4 against India in the first T20I?

New Zealand's total of 225/4 in 20 overs was built on a commanding display from Glenn Phillips, who anchored and then accelerated the innings with an unbeaten 82 off 40 balls. His knock included eight fours and three sixes, and his 73-run stand with Bevon Jacobs gave the innings considerable impetus in the closing overs.

Bhuvneshwar was among the Indian bowlers who struggled to contain the New Zealand batters, conceding 49 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket. His figures of 0/49 reflected the difficulty India's pace attack faced on the day as the hosts set a challenging target. The match also marked the moment his long-standing record of no-ball-free bowling in T20Is came to a close after 89 appearances at the international level.
