The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the schedule for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027, which will be played in Bangladesh and Nepal from 21 January to 6 February. Sixteen teams will compete in 41 matches across the tournament, providing a global stage for emerging women cricketers to test themselves against their peers and compete for the world title.
The third edition of the tournament will feature four groups of four teams, with matches scheduled across venues in Chattogram, Sylhet and Kathmandu. The venues are Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium (BSSFLMRCS) in Chattogram, Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS) in Sylhet, TU International Cricket Stadium and Upper Mulpani International Cricket Ground in Kathmandu.
The groups are as follows:
Group A: India, Ireland, West Indies and Nepal
Group B: South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan and Samoa
Group C: Australia, Bangladesh, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
Group D: England, Sri Lanka, the United States of America (USA) and Scotland
The tournament opens on 21 January with four matches. Bangladesh will face the UAE in the morning before Australia, the runners-up at the previous edition, take on Nigeria in the afternoon at SICS Ground 1. In Kathmandu, Sri Lanka will play Scotland at Upper Mulpani International Cricket Ground, followed by England against the USA.
Two-time defending champions India, begin their title defense on 22 January against the West Indies at TU International Cricket Stadium in Kathmandu. Hosts Nepal will open their campaign against Ireland earlier that day. New Zealand will face Samoa and South Africa will take on Pakistan in Chattogram on the same day.
The group stage runs through 26 January, after which the qualifying teams advance to the Super Six stage. The teams will be divided into two groups, with the top two sides progressing to the semi-finals.
The semi-finals are scheduled for 4 February at Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium, with a reserve day confirmed on 5 February. The final will be played on 6 February at 13h30 local time, with 7 February set aside as a reserve day.
ICC CEO, Sanjog Gupta said: "The ICC U19 World Cup is the stage that showcases the future of our sport and serves as the ultimate platform for young players to make the leap towards elite careers representing their countries. These future stars representing 16 teams will garner the world's attention and become relatable role models for many young girls playing the sport, serving inspiration for their continued cricket journeys.
"The choice of our hosts – Bangladesh and Nepal – is also reflective of the ICC's belief and investment in the future of the cricket ecosystem. With deep passion for cricket and nearly 40% of the two countries' populations below the age of 20, they serve as the ideal hosts for one of the world's biggest youth sporting events."
