[WATCH] Two employees caught enjoying live cricket at work during SA vs AUS 3rd Test

The third and final Test between South Africa and Australia at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 produced an unexpected off-field moment that swiftly captured the internet's attention. Two office workers, seated at their desks in a building that appeared to overlook the iconic Newlands ground, were picked up by the stadium's giant replay screen while casually following the match during working hours. The clip spread rapidly across social media, with cricket fans around the world finding the pair's reaction entirely relatable.

Their relaxed posture made it obvious they had been absorbed in the on-field action rather than any office task, and the broadcast cameras ensured that thousands of spectators inside the ground were in on the secret too. However, the moment that truly made the sequence memorable came immediately after.

Realising their cricket-watching session had been exposed on the giant screen to the entire stadium, both workers spun their chairs back towards their monitors and put on a swift display of professional diligence. Their coordinated attempt to appear occupied only amplified the humour, and the clip continued to circulate well after the day's play concluded.

The duo's sudden pivot to keyboard activity the instant they spotted themselves on the replay screen drew loud reactions from the crowd inside the ground. Fans on social media described the scramble as something they could personally relate to, with many noting that the workers' attempt to convince everyone they had been busy with office tasks all along only made the clip funnier. The moment continued to circulate well after stumps were drawn on the opening day.

How did South Africa and Australia perform on the field that day?

While the office workers stole the spotlight away from the action, the on-field contest was equally compelling. Batting first, South Africa were bowled out for 329 in 82.3 overs, posting a competitive total in what was a genuine series decider. Marques Ackermann was the standout with 95, falling agonisingly short of a century, while Aiden Markram contributed a composed 78. David Bedingham added 50, and Marco Jansen's lower-order 52 helped the hosts push past 300 and set a challenging target for the visitors.

Australia's Mitchell Starc led the bowling effort with an impressive six-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 6/72. The series had arrived at Cape Town level at 1-1, with Australia having claimed the first Test by 214 runs and South Africa levelling matters by winning the second Test by an innings and 31 runs, making the third Test a fitting decider at Newlands. Between the viral off-field moment and a tightly poised contest, the opening day at Newlands gave cricket fans plenty to talk about on both sides of the boundary rope.
